Fla. asked to cede jurisdiction over tribe

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2003

The Florida Legislature on Tuesday held a hearing to consider ceding jurisdiction over Miccosukee tribal lands.

The state assumed criminal and civil jurisdiction under Public Law 280. The tribe and its supporters say it is time to follow other states and relinquish authority.
