The Alaska Division of Public Health released a bulletin last week criticizing a study that linked high levels of toxic chemicals in Alaska Natives to an abandoned military site.

Some Alaska Native groups, including the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, signed onto the bulletin. They urged Alaska Natives not to worry about eating subsistence foods.

But the Alaska Community Action on Toxics and experts that participated in the study said state is in denial about the problem. Some Alaska Natives are worried and want more study.
