Ojibwe woman receives top honor for forestry work

Gloria Whitefeather-Spears received the Award of Honor at the Women of Color Recognition in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday.

Whitefeather-Spears, a member of the Red Lake Nation, was recognized for her years of forestry work. Now the manager of the Red Lake Forestry Greenhouses, she has planted nearly 14 million trees, fought fires and taught students about fire prevention and tree appreciation.
