THURSDAY, MARCH 6, 2003

A federal judge in Nevada dismissed a suit seeking approval of a kitty litter mine next to the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony.

Oil-Dri Corp. had the backing of the Department of Interior. But the judge said the dispute should probably be handled in state court.

The company wants to build a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week clay mine and plant but faces opposition from local residents and the Reno-Sparks Tribe.
