Ariz. district weighs shift of Navajo Anglo students

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 2003 The Page Unified School District in Arizona is being asked to study whether "reconfiguration" of its two elementary schools might help improve the education of Navajo students. The district is 71 percent Native but most Navajo students attend one school. The other is half Native-half Anglo. The students at the majority Navajo school have low test scores and are in the low income range. Reconfiguration, a cure for segregation, could help by improving cultural education, some say.
