Wash. tribe seeks return of ancestral land

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2003 The Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington is asking for the return of n ancestral land now being used as a park. Snoqualmie Chief Jerry Kanim, who died in 1956, lived on land that is part of Tolt River John MacDonald Park in King County. The park is the site of a tribal village and traditional campground. Over the years, King County has handed control of parks to local jurisdictions. Officials say they are willing to talk with the tribe. Get the Story:
