Rebuffed in their own circles, Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin are seeking new ways to stop the approval of new tribal gaming compacts.

Republicans said Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat, may have broken state law by authorizing a compact with the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe. They are threatening to sue Doyle based on the open-ended compact.

The Republicans also say they will pressure the Bureau of Indian Affairs not to act on the deals until the legal issues are resolved.
