WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 2003

The Rhode Island Special House Commission to Study Gaming released a 133-page report on Tuesday calling for a special state election to authorize the development of one casino.

The board says voters should be allowed to say yes or not to the idea on November 4. The host community would then have final say about who would actually operate the casino.

The Narragansett Tribe has been trying to get voter approval for a casino for a decade. The tribe would have to compete for the right to operate the casino.
