BIA wants to take burial site into trust

THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 2003 The Bureau of Indian Affairs wants to take an 18-acre burial site into trust an Ojibwe tribe in Wisconsin. Fond du Lac ancestors were buried at Wisconsin Point but some of the graves may have been removed after a railroad company took control of the area. The site in question was eventually transferred to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer but is now considered "surplus." Get the Story:
