From the ASU Web Devil 'Boos and Bravos' column: "Bravo to Gov. Napolitano's effort to change the name of Squaw Peak to Piestewa Peak. The geographic name, which happens to translate into a not-so-nice term (rhymes with runt...), is an insulting and offensive way to "celebrate" our state's American Indian roots. Lori Piestewa, a Hopi who lived on the Navajo Reservation in Tuba City, is believed to be the first American Indian woman to lose her life in U.S. combat."

Jody Manuele: "Arizona should be the first state to honor Lori Piestewa."

Lindy Foreman: "I find myself wondering whether all the attention is on Pfc. Lori Piestewa because she truly was a great warrior or because she was a Native American woman who also happened to be a single mother."
