Some candidates in a recent primary election say their incumbents received an unfair endorsement by a tribal financial advisor, The Deseret News reports.

The adviser, John Jurrius, was allowed to address tribal members before a candidates' forum, and he talked about expanding $1,500 per capita payments to elders. Candidates who oppose the expansion felt the discussion unfairly boosted the incumbents.

The general election will go ahead as planned April 28.
