O'odham tribal court to hear election lawsuit

FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2003 A Tohono O'odham Nation court will hear a suit Monday challenging the way Mexican tribal members are registered to vote. Members who live in Mexico don't belong to the tribe's 11 political districts but are allowed to register with one of the districts in order to vote. The suit, however, alleges that Mexican members aren't being allowed to register. The election, for tribal chairman, is scheduled for May 24. Get the Story:
