Law distributes $7 million tribal trust fund

WEDNESDAY, MAY 21, 2003 President Bush last week signed into law a bill that distributes a $7 million trust fund to the Gila River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community of Arizona. The trust is payment for an Indian Claims Commission award and a U.S. Court of Claims judgment. The tribe's water rights weren't protected by the federal government, the commission and court ruled.
