The Blue Quills First Nation College on the Saddle Lake Reserve in Alberta, Canada, is leading an effort to repatriate a sacred meteorite.

Known as Papamihaw Asiniy, or flying rock, the meteorite is considered a central part of Cree culture. It is currently in the possession of the Provincial Museum of Alberta, whose curator doesn't want it removed.

In June 2000, the Confederated Grand Ronde Tribes of Oregon and the American Museum of Natural History in New York agreed to settle ownership of a sacred meteorite.
