Okla. governor says he doesn't support One Nation

THURSDAY, JUNE 5, 2003 Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry (D) doesn't support a group that has criticized Indian gaming and tribal sovereignty, a spokesperson told The Native American Times. One Nation claims to represent the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association, Oklahoma Petroleum Marketers Association, Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Southern Oklahoma Water Alliance. They are opposed to what they call the "unprecedented expansion of the power of the Native American tribes." Last year, Oklahoma's petroleum industry opposed a trust reform bill that would have changed how land owned by members of the Five Civilized Tribes is handled. Get the Story:
