March on Whiteclay called a day of unity
FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2003

A march from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota to the border town of Whiteclay will take place tomorrow.

Organizer Tom Poor Bear hopes 700 people will join the march to call attention to the unsolved deaths of two Lakota men. Poor Bear and others believe the men were murdered.

Whiteclay is in Nebraska and is home to four liquor establishments that cater largely to residents from the reservation, where alcohol is banned. Former U.S. senator Bob Kerrey, of Nebraska, said it was "morally indefensible" for the state to continue to allow the sale of liquor.
