Jim McDivitt, deputy assistant secretary for management at Bureau of Indian Affairs. Navajo Nation officials refused to attend the Bush administration's presentation of the reorganization of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Office of Special Trustee (OST), The Gallup Independent reports.

Tribal leaders felt attending the meeting, which was held Friday in Window Rock, Arizona, would be tantamount to an endorsement of the changes, the paper said. Instead, they held a 17-hour closed-door meeting to discuss their opposition to the reorganization and to discuss a lawsuit they intend to file.
