Slain Indian officer to be inducted into memorial

MONDAY, JUNE 9, 2003

Joshua Raven Chief Rutherford, a deputy sheriff killed in the line of duty, will be inducted into the Montana Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial.

Rutherford, 28, a member of the Assiniboine Tribe on the Fort Belknap Reservation, was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call. He was an officer for Blaine County.

Rutherford's name will be added to the memorial on May 15, 2004.
