Ariz. bishop caught in hit and run case resigns

THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2003 The Catholic bishop in Phoenix, Arizona, who has been arrested in connection with the hit and run death of a Navajo Nation man resigned on Wednesday. Thomas J. O'Brien has been charged with leaving the scene of a crime. Police have not said whether he will face additional charges for the death of Jim Lee Reed, a Navajo man from Tuba City. Reed was killed in a hit and run accident on Saturday. The 6-foot, 235-pound man was a construction worker. Get the Story:
