The Wisconsin Supreme Court has assigned a reserve judge to determine whether it will hear a challenge to a new Indian gaming compact or send the dispute to a lower court.

Republicans contend Gov. Jim Doyle (D) signed a compact with the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe that violates the state constitution. They want limits imposed on the agreement.
