Alaska Native pull-tab parlor shut down

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 2003 Alaska law enforcement shut down a Class II pull-tab parlor operated by the Barrow tribal government. Class II gaming is not outlawed in Alaska but the Barrow tribal government wasn't following state law, citing its status as a federally-recognized tribe. Alaska attorney general Gregg Renkes says the facility didn't have a state permit. The tribe went to court to get its operation approved but was turned down. Get the Story:
