Alaska lawmakers cut funds to rural Native villages, rejecting Governor Frank Murkowski's plan to divide up the money equally between rural and urban areas.

Murkowski wanted to split a $15 million federal grant evenly, giving each municipality about $40,000. Lawmakers instead approved a plan that gives large cities the lion's share of the funds.
