Calif. tribe to finance project with state bonds

THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2003 California's Cabazon Band of Mission Indians will receive $145 million in tax-exempt bonds from a state agency to build a 12-story hotel and convention center. The deal is believed to be the second in the nation of its kind. The tribe created a public subsidiary and an independent board to oversee the project, and entered into agreements to provide revenues to and make improvements in local communities. Get the Story:
