Sask. apologizes for beating of Native baby

The Saskatchewan provincial government and the Montreal Lake Creek First Nation apologized on Wednesday for the beating of a Native boy with the release of a report into his treatment.

Baby Andy was in the child welfare system but was returned to his mother, who was undergoing drug and alcohol addiction treatment He was 20 months old when his step-father beat him and left him with serious brain trauma.

Andy is now two years old and is unable to unable to move his arms and legs or lift his head. He is also blind.
