Wis. tribes support improvement in state relations

THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2003 Wisconsin tribal leaders testified in favor of a three legislative proposals that would formalize their government-to-government relationship with the state. One bill would recognize tribal sovereignty, the second would create a new Tribal-State Council and the third will require greater tribal input and consultation on proposals that affect them. Tribal leaders said the bills would improve their standing in state issues. Get the Story:
