Wis. high court recognizes tribal court rulings

FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2003 The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled 5-2 on Thursday that state courts must give full faith and credit to tribal court judgments. The court handled a dispute that was filed both in state court and tribal court. The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa court ruled first against a former casino manager. The state court ruled second but in favor of the manager. The Supreme Court gave preference to the tribal decision because it came first. Get the Story:
