Former Clinton Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt criticized his successor Gale Norton for the Bush administration's land policies, The Sacramento Bee reports.

Babbitt told the paper he opposed Norton's decision to suspend wilderness considerations nationwide. But he said he wouldn't get into a debate about the issue when asked to elaborate.

After eight years in office, Babbitt left the Department of Interior in December 2000. He now works for the law firm of Latham & Watkins.
