Tohono O'odham Nation reports drop in border calls

WEDNESDAY, JULY 23, 2003 The Tohono O'odham Nation says calls of Mexican migrants using the reservation to cross in the United States has dropped by two-thirds. Under "Operation Safeguard," there has been increased staffing by the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection. This has enabled tribal officers to focus on non-immigrant related issues. The actual number of crossings is not reported but is said to be much lower. Get the Story:
