Salt River Tribe signs $400M development agreement

THURSDAY, JULY 24, 2003 The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community has signed a $400 million deal with a real estate developer. Alter Group of Chicago will build a 2 million-square-foot office and retail park on tribal land near Scottsdale. The retail space market is considered highly lucrative there. The deal reportedly took eight years to negotiate. Businesses who locate on the reservation will be subject to tribal taxes and tribal law. Get the Story:
