TUESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2001

Members of the Kalispel Tribe of Washington are busy working with opera professionals to stage a performance of "The Magic Flute" next week.

The opera will be sung in English and narrated in both English and the Kalispel language. It will be performed at the tribe's pow-wow grounds.

The idea was first proposed by Libby Kopczynski Moore, an opera singer from New York City. Francis Cullooyah, a tribal elder who brought the idea to the tribe, will narrate.
