SEPTEMBER 29, 2000 The Honor the Earth concert tour kicks off this Saturday at the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. Blues-rock group Indigenous headlines the show, which will take place at the tribe's own high school in Lame Deer. Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, and The Indigo Girls will also perform. Getting Native Americans to vote will be part of the effort at the first concert. A local group called Native Action will be on hand to get more Indians registered to vote. The Northern Cheyenne tribe this year is holding its tribal elections on the same day as state and federal elections. It is hoped this will increase participation at the state and federal level.
