Tribal member leads Lewis & Clark exhibit

MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2001 Gerard Baker, a member of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota, is superintendent of the Corps of Discovery II, a traveling Lewis and Clark exhibit. Baker has been working on the exhibit since last year, coordinating efforts at the National Park Service. He will now put the show on the road, tracing the route Lewis and Clark took whenever possible. Tribes are taking greater roles in marking the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition, which started in 1804. W. Otis Halfmoon is the exhibit's tribal liaison. Get the Story:
