OCTOBER 13, 2000

Does Mamie Rupnicki, recently resigned Chairwoman of the Prairie Band of the Potawatomi, have a future at the Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas?

A report from the Topeka Capital-Journal considers the question. Rupnicki its currently president of the Board of Regents at the tribal college in Lawrence.

But no one knows for sure if Rupnicki's controversies in her tribe will have an effect elsewhere. Some say its a tribal matter and the Regents won't be concerned. Others won't comment.
