MONDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2001

If the University of North Dakota hockey team wants to play at State Cloud State, the players better leave their "Fighting Sioux" logo and nickname behind, said officials at the Ohio school.

According to an associate professor at St. Cloud State, the name and logo are "hate speech." President Roy Saigo has asked the Hational Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to eliminate all Indian-themed nicknames.

UND is scheduled to play St. Cloud on November 2.
