During a speech to the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, Haskell Indian Nations University President Karen Swisher on Tuesday asked the local community to include the school and students in their efforts.

Haskell is currently in talks about a proposed state highway. The Bureau of Indian Affairs said it will oppose the project unless a street that runs through school property is eliminated.
