A group of parents, students, and others gathered in Burlington, Vermont, on Saturday to discuss racism in the state's schools.

One panelist in particular said Abenaki students were singled out because they were American Indian. He said Abenaki students were often sent to special education classes.

The state has no federally recognized tribes. The panel was sponsored by Interfaith Vermonters Against Racism.
