MARCH 23, 2001

Ray Patencio is the son of the last ceremonial bird singer of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of California and is also a storyteller who passes on the tribe's history and traditions.

Patencio recently held a lecture in Palm Springs and told stories about Cahuilla creation, politics, humor, and westerns.

The tribe is currently expanding its tribal museum.
