Commission holds education hearing in Wyo.

APRIL 23, 2001 The US Civil Rights Commission last week held a hearing in Wyoming to address education issues for minority and at-risk students. Tribal officials spoke about a number of problems affecting students on the Wind River Reservation. An Eastern Shoshone tribal council member said the reservation isn't getting its fair share of school funding. An education director for the Northern Arapahoe Tribe said standardized tests are biased against Indian students. A director for the Shoshone Tribe said social conditions can prevent Indian students from learning. Get the Story:
