MAY 12, 2000

A new bill signed into law by Governor Tony Knowles on Tuesday requires school districts with a predominantly Native population to set up Native language advisory boards. The boards would make recommendations on teaching Native languages but it would be the school districts' decision whether or not to implement them. School districts with less than a 50 percent Native population are not required to set up the boards.
