MAY 30, 2000 Out of a 3,200 Northern Utes in Utah, only 478 are fluent speakers of the Ute language. Venita Taveapont has created the Ute Language Revitalization Project to help prevent the loss of the tribe's language. Larry Cesspooch wants to start television broadcasts in Ute and to improve the tribe's web site. It is estimated that without an effort made by the tribe, the last fluent speakers will be gone by 2025. Get the Story:
