Elementary school students from the Gila River Reservation are attending a two-week education program at Arizona State University's East campus designed to encourage them to stay in school.

The two-year old GEAR-UP Summer Residential Program was created by Phillip Huebner, director of Indian Programs at ASU East. He says he wants to comabt high drop-out rates among Indian students by improving their confidence academically.
