State focusing on Indian education

The state of Nebraska has been taking steps to improve the level and quality of education to Indian students.

The state Department of Education has created two positions for Native education using federal funds. The state also has an Indian education task force.

The state's four reservation community schools have a total enrollment of about 1,200. There are about 5,000 Native students statewide.
