Navajo camp gets underway

The Navajo Language Immersion Camp of the Albuquerque Public Schools has been teaching students, particularly urban Navajo ones, about Navajo culture and language.

In June, the middle and high school students attending the three-week program. Elementary students have their turn this month. In total, 150 students are participating.

The $30,000 is funded by APS and a bilingual education grant from the Department of Education. Half of the instructors are APS teacher and the other half are Navajo volunteers.
