A ceremony is being held today in Ketchikan to celebrate the return of five totem poles to the Tlingit Nation of Alaska.

The poles come from five museums throughout the country. They date to the late 1800s.

In a commentary published in The Anchorage Daily News, Diane Benson writes about the harm that is done to Tlingit culture when items are taken from their proper homes.
