AUGUST 17, 2000

Native American students are part of a group excavating a site on South Puget Sound, uncovering artifacts in a village 1,000 years old.

The Squaxin Island Tribe and the Washington state Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation are assisting with the students from the South Puget Sound Community College. The artifacts uncovered will become part of an exhibit at the Squaxin Museum, Library and Research Center, which is currently under construction.
