A federal judge has sentenced Gerald "Gerry" Burd to one year and one day in prison for stealing more than $100,000 from the Haskell Foundation.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard Rogers in Kansas also ordered Burd to repay the money he admitted stealing from the tribal college's foundation. School officials told The Lawrence Journal-World Gurd's sentence was a joke.

Burd also stole $336,549 from his aunt's estate.
