AUGUST 30, 2000 The Southern Cayuga school board is still considering whether or not to change the Chiefs mascot of the high school and is seeking public comments and recommendations from the state on the issue. Chandell Matzen, a senior at the school and a member of the Seneca Nation asked the school board to consider dropping the name. A graduate of the school said the mascot should be removed and doesn't even refer to Indians at all. Get the Story:
