Calif. tribes support education bill

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2001 A number of California tribes are pushing Gov. Gray Davis (D) to adopt legislation that would develop a new curriculum for teaching Indian education, culture and history in public schools. Davis previously vetoed a version of the bill, saying it didn't comply with requirement on introducing a new curriculum. The bill has been changed to address his concerns, say supporters. Davis has until October 14 to consider the bill. Get the Story:
