Haskell students seeking church

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2001

Students at Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas are trying to start a church that blends Native traditions with Judeo-Christian ones.

To help the process, a group of students have formed the Fellowship of Christian Students. With support from the Southern Baptist Convention and the Kaw Valley Baptist Association, the students have been holding services every other Sunday.

Student and ordained Baptist minister Warren "Junior" Pratt leads the services, which are hoped to expand to every week next year.
