The Alaska Native Language Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has received a $1 million grant from the Department of Education.

The money will be used to pay for a teacher training program on Athabaskan languages. The program has focused on four of them -- Gwich'in, Koyukon Upper Kuskokwim, Deg Xinag, and Lower Tanana -- and the grant will allow the school to add three more: Upper Tanana, Tanacross, and Dena'ina.
